Sadly relegated to the theater edition of AKB48’s 52nd single, Teacher Teacher, and with no music video, is one of my favorite AKB songs, 蜂の巣ダンス (hachinosu DANSU / Beehive Dance). It’s performed by Team 8, and is a great showcase for their energy, and for the dance and vocal prowess of the center, Yokoyama Yui.
The first time I heard this song was on the (unfortunately now discontinued) AKB48 Show! (episode 186, 5/20/2018). It’s the full performance, and a (aggressively yellow) visual I strongly associate with the song anyway, so I figured I might was well sub it. The AKB48 Show! included Japanese subtitles, so I based my subs around them. This was the show’s opening performance, preceded by a skit with Yokoyama Yui and Okabe Rin; maybe one day I’ll sub that part, too.
I’ve included the Japanese lines in the softsub as well, just commented out.
