Note: I try to repeat the Japanese thread as closely as possible here. Where I do make some editorial additions I’ll put them in [ ], though I do occasionally soften the posters’ tone.
“In the document it’s almost like Kitagawa’s not there”, “There are details like the pretext for taking Kitagawa along was [Kasai] wanted to have a talk in her room, but then how was it going to be just the two of them alone?”
Kasai claims in the brief they were connected, but recognized that it appeared that he was just “a fan that was enthusiastically supporting Maho, that his feelings became stronger, and then not knowing what to do he ended up uninvited at her home”
There is only one name given for the defenses’ lawyers.
Attorney Han didn’t come for the second round of preparations for moving forward.
Argument preparations were made via conference calls.
Since the trial is taking place in the defendants’ home area, that is to say with it being held in Niigata District Court, the suspects’ addresses were in Niigata in May at the time when the briefs were submitted.
In spite of this, they are holding conference calls.
If the defendants live in Niigata, I would expect them to select attorneys from the Niigata area. Yet their lawyers are from Tokyo.
Usually, in case for some reason you are not able to come in from afar to the courthouse, a conference call will be allowed.
And because there are these meetings, if the defendants are living in Niigata, they won’t for instance choose a Tokyo lawyer.
If you think about this normally, then haven’t the suspects moved to the Tokyo area, or the Kantou area?
If both the plaintiff AKS and the suspects are in Tokyo, why is the trial being held in Niigata district court?
You’d transfer it to Tokyo district court.
If you have the trial in Tokyo, it won’t be just AKS official media there, but all the regular media will be reporting on it.
