路面電車の街 (romendensha no machi / The Trolley Town) is a B-side from Nogizaka’s 24th single 夜明けまで強がらなくてもいい, and there are a few odd things about this MV. Well probably the most immediately apparent is the starring role of Takase Mana, a 19-year-old actress and model who is notably not a member of Nogizaka.
She plays the part of “Hikari”, and appears alongside Nogi’s top three “next-gen” stars, Hori Miona, Saito Asuka, and Yamashita Mizuki. I’m a big fan of the weirdness that can come out of the Hori-Asuka combo, and this MV plays around with unusual compositions and reality in a fun way.
Both the song and the video tell similar, sad stories, and I’m definitely a sucker for the sentimentality. And Asuka crying. Anyway, I find it a beautiful song and it got stuck in my head pretty quickly. Definitely my favorite song from this single.
