After everything that happened last year around Yamaguchi Maho, it became too painful to listen to the NGT songs on my playlist. From just the musicality standpoint it’s a shame as NGT (despite having released only four singles) has so many songs I used to enjoy.
Here we find ourselves a year later and I can’t say that the situation around NGT has really gotten much better, but at least many of the members I care about have been able to extract themselves and land on their feet.
And I left the NGT songs on my playlists, despite skipping them constantly. Finally listening through あとで recently… well, I’m reminded how much I like NGT songs. So with Takakura Moeka having announced her imminent graduation, and my NGT oshimen Sugahara Riko having left last summer with Maho and Rena, I though I’d go ahead and sub their unit song.
あとで (ato de / After This), off NGT’s 3rd single, is a silly song and video, and I remember being quite excited about Riko getting a fun small unit B-side. She does the alien antenna braids for the MV, which I think fits her goofy personality. I think the stilted directing here works well for both her and Moeka.
Sorry that the only version of the MV I have is the potato 480i off their DVD. I did include the bit at the end; I’m not sure if Nara Miharu is actually speaking in a dialect or another language close to Japanese there.
