Here’s one I’ve been meaning to come back to for quite a while. I mentioned in my first go at it that Little Glee Monster’s version of ファイト! (FAITO! / Fight!) was my favorite song, and that’s still true. Since there’s no recorded full live performance (that I know of), I thought I’d sub the very short version from 2018’s NHK The Covers’ Fes.
Even though it’s just the start and end of the song, I love this performance; I re-watch this part of the show pretty often (though as I’ve said, the other guests were interesting, too).
Fortunately there were full Japanese subs for the show, so I’ve also included the very short talk segments before and after. Also the Japanese lyrics were included in the original broadcast, so I’ve worked my subs in around them.
Unfortunately six months later understanding the lyrics is still really difficult for me, though it seems a study of Hiroshima dialect may have answered a few of the questions I had. I’d say it’s now more right than it is wrong…
