STU48’s second single has a great A-side in 風を待つ (kaze wo matsu / Wait for the Wind) — it’s upbeat, catchy, and appropriately sea-themed. The video is a one-take they had to do nine times before they got the final cut, thought they eventually uploaded many of the unused runs on their website.
The video also has a lot of good shots of my favorite STU members. If fact, I guess I decided to take this on now in part because it was nice to see my STU oshimen, Yabushita Fu. She’s currently on hiatus, but here she’s at the top of her game in the #2 senbatsu position. Of course Naachan and Yumirin are great, and before I name ten more, really I’m a fan of pretty much every member in this lineup.
If you want to know more about STU48, they’re a pretty new group still so you can get up to speed on their discography and membership pretty easily. Check out one of my subbing groups, MaritimeSubs, which subbed the entire season of their premier variety show Setobingo!. It’s a great way to get introduced to their interesting characters; it’s how I found my oshimen.
The official video actually contains both the MV and the making-of, so I thought I’d take on the challenge of subbing both parts. Unfortunately, without Japanese subtitles I’m finding the making-of section, with lots of fast cuts and background noise, too difficult to accurately translate so far. So, for now I’m posting subs that only cover the MV section of the video.
The fonts also turned out to be tricky to track down, so I went with HGMinchoB and Constantia as rough approximations.
