Good Timing was one of the first NMB songs I took a liking to, even before I knew any of the members in the unit. Off their 2018 single 欲望者 (yokubomono / The One Who Desires), it’s the tonal opposite of the A-side with bright, cheery colors and an upbeat, bouncy tune.
On-point for a song about wanting to reach the spotlight, it features a cast of up-and-coming NMB members. Notable the the center, Yamamoto Ayaka, has been doing quite well and seems well poised to center the group in the future. The two other front members are also prominent, with Umeyama Cocona also getting a big push from management and Jonishi Rei making a splash in gravure.
I just find it a fun song to listen to, and the MV has a charmingly gleeful quality to it. Also I can just about taste that lemon! Too bad it’s one of the videos I only have in potato quality; maybe one day they’ll release an all-NMB blu-ray and I can update these.
