The “digital voice actress idol group” 22/7 (nana bun ni juu ni) released their 4th single last week, and I finally got my copies in the mail. I thought I’d mention it since I don’t think I’ve done anything about 22/7 here, in part because they already have a good dedicated fan-subber and fan site.

I got into 22/7 because of its outspoken (and walking disaster, in a good way) American member Amaki Sally (@sally_amaki). She’s great, and has been noted in the press for her split personality when addressing her Japanese versus overseas fans. The other members are wonderful, too, including their leader (and my oshimen) Hokaze Chiharu (@c_hokaze227). Or Umino Ruri (@ru_ri_88), who is like a tsundere version of Keyakizaka46’s Habu Mizuho.

I guess they’re actually the only idol group where I’ve gotten to see every member perform, as well as meeting several (technically Tsuri Bit, too, but I don’t really follow them). I suppose they are very loosely related to the -zaka46 groups, as they are also under Sony Music and get their lyrics from Aki-P.

I’m not into anime, and don’t particularly like the typical high-pitched “anime voice”, but I’ve liked their music so far. Of course, they also still don’t actually have a full-length anime series yet (it was recently announced for next year), but I’ll certainly watch it when it comes out. They’ve released a few shorts, and regularly do shows in-character (the digital part of their group description being that they perform in full-body motion capture suits, which is turned into their CG animated characters for both live shows and official videos).

They’ve been slowly getting better about engaging with their overseas fans. Sally has her own (well, now somewhat appropriated for the rest of the members) Youtube channel, there’s a new official international site for their anime, and the MV for their 4th single, 何もしてあげられない (nani mo shite agerarenai / I Can’t Do Anything for You), isn’t region locked.

I’m enjoying all the tracks – so consider buying a copy if you like the sound. You can also get samples of every track from the bottom of their CDJapan pages:
